ABOUT US

Welcome to the Alumnae Association of Phi Kappa Pi, Inc., dedicated to the Sisters of the Alpha Omega Chapter of the Phi Kappa Pi Sorority located in Potsdam, New York serving the colleges of State University of New York at Potsdam and Clarkson University. The goal of the Association is to provide outreach and advice to the active house, serve as an address and information source and to keep in touch with one another, attending various Alumnae and Active sister events throughout the year.

The Association was established in 1994. Any once active, former active, semi- active, or honorary member of the Alpha Omega Chapter of the Phi Kappa Pi Sorority is eligible for membership. Meetings are conducted three times a year with elections held during the Annual meeting in July. To become a member, one must be in good financial standing with Phi Kappa Pi and pay yearly dues to the Association.

In 1998, the Association purchased the home at 58 Elm Street which is the residence for active members of Phi Kappa Pi Sorority, As owners, the Association is responsible for its finances which include:

 

  • Monthly/quarterly expenses  (trash removal, phone, gas, electric, water/sewage, lawn care and plowing)

  • Annual town/county taxes, village taxes and school taxes

  • Annual home owner’s insurance

  • All repairs and maintenance including annual inspection of our fire system and extinguishers, inspection of boiler, annual code enforcement inspection, etc.

 

Expenses are paid, primarily, from rental income. Additionally, the Association raises funds from annual dues (50% is allocated to home improvements and repairs) and various fundraising campaigns, focused on a specific project (such as the roof replacement in 2012, back foundation repair in 2014, kitchen renovation in 2015, bathroom renovation in 2016) and general funds, in savings, for emergencies or future improvements. The Alumnae Association of Phi Kappa Pi, Inc. is a 501(c) (7) organization, currently filing as tax exempt.
